Bullets fly in Cuero: Man charged with four drive-by shootings

SHOTS IN THE DARK
Four drive-by shootings were reported early Sunday morning in Cuero. The locations included:
300 block of East Second Street - A vehicle was struck twice and the house struck twice. Two adults and two children were home.
500 block of West Broadway Street - Report of shots fire, no damage located.
500 block of Evers Street - One shot struck the house. Three adults and five children were in the home.
300 block of Aransas Pass Street - House struck "several" times. Three adults and two children were at home.

CHARGESFrancisco Lopez Jr. has had 21 charges filed against him in connection with the drive-by shootings Sunday morning in Cuero. The charges and bonds include:
Deadly Conduct Discharge Firearm - Nine charges - $25, 000 bond on each charge
Abandon/Endanger a Child Criminal Negligence - Four charges - $10,000 bond each charge.
Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon - $25,000 bond
Possession Controlled Substance - $25,000 bond
Tampering With Identification Numbers Personal Property - $2,000 bond
Possession Controlled Substance - Two charges - $2,000 bond each
Resisting Arrest, Search or Transport - $2,000 bond
Criminal Mischief - $2,000 bond
CUERO - A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with four separate drive-by shooting incidents in Cuero early Sunday morning.
Francisco Lopez Jr., of Cuero, was arrested by Cuero police following reports of shots fired about 3:30 a.m. Sunday, according to a news release from the Cuero Police Department.
"We are still looking for a motive," said Cuero Police Chief Chris Hernandez.
Police were responding to a call of shots fired in the 300 block of East Second Street when a second call of shots fired came in from the 500 block of West Broadway Street.
A witness at the second shooting reported seeing a small red van leaving the area. The van was located at a house in the 600 block of McArthur St., where Lopez was arrested. While being transported to the DeWitt County Detention Center, Lopez shattered the back window of the police car, according to the news release.
A gun believed to be used in the shooting was recovered, as were two types of prescription narcotics and crack cocaine.
The van was searched and several spent shell casings were found, according to the news release.
Continued investigation revealed that shots had also been fired in the 500 block of Evers Street and the 300 block of Aransas Pass Street.
At three of the locations, children were in the homes, according to the news release.
Lopez has had 21 charges filed against him and remains in jail in lieu of bond totaling $300,000.
