EL CAMPO - El Campo Police continue the search for three women who robbed two jewelry stores on Sept. 11.
The women entered Prairie Rose Clothiers in El Campo about 1 p.m., said police Detective Sgt. Russell Urban.
Store surveillance video captured images of one woman, who was left unattended for about eight minutes, walk to the jewelry section and load about $13,000 of Brighton watches, necklaces, earrings and bracelets into the large purse she carried, he said.
About an hour and a half later, the women entered Rendezvous, a Cuero boutique, where surveillance video captured all three women taking jewelry, Urban said.
Although Rendezvous' owner had not yet taken a full inventory, Urban said she lost thousands of dollars in merchandise.
Police suspect the women are from the Victoria area, he said, but have not yet identified them.
Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call the El Campo Police Department at 979-543-5311.
"We're hoping someone will recognize them," he said.
