Callers talk about political cartoon, other topics

Love your political cartoon in Friday's paper. Thank God for the federal government and my Social Security check that comes in each month. No complaints here.

Joseph in Palacios, you are so correct. The obesity epidemic in America is horrible, but here is the difference. If a person wants to lead an unhealthy lifestyle and weigh 300, 400, 500 pounds, it is unfortunate, but they are not hurting anyone but themselves. However, when smokers light up, they are holding the rest of us who choose not to smoke, hostage to their filthy habit. Is that really fair to the rest of us? By the way, I am nowhere near being overweight.

To Mark in Port Lavaca: How many billions of dollars did taxpayers spend on President Bush's oil war in Iraq?

How much blood money was made by Republicans, including Bush and Cheney, on the spoils of war?

Fact: America lost more jobs to foreign markets under the Republican-controlled Congress during the Bush era than any other era.

Many didn't eat very well then either.

How do you like those gas prices now? Way to go Murphy's Express! Keep those gas prices down.
