No one was injured in a one-vehicle wreck that turned an 18-wheeler on its side at 4:25 a.m. Wednesday.
The 18-wheeler was traveling south on U.S. Highway 59, about one-and-a-half miles south of Edna, when its driver went to pass another truck, said Frank Mercado, a trooper with the Department of Public Safety in Yoakum.
When the trailer drove into the grass, it pulled the rest of the 18-wheeler down with it, he said. The driver, Edinburg resident Erasmo Ledesma, escaped with cuts and scrapes and was not transported to a hospital.
The truck was towed away shortly after 7 a.m., Mercado said, but the trailer remained on-site until another trailer could carry it off.
