Deadmau5 [pronounced Dead Mouse] is coming to Austin!
Don't miss DJ Joel Zimmerman, a.k.a. Deadmau5, at the Austin Music Hall on Oct. 8 and Zilker Park on Oct. 9 as part of the Austin City Limits Music Festival. You might have seen Deadmau5 on the MTV Video Music Award's this year, wearing an oversized, gem-encrusted mouse head that shoots lasers out of its eyes (his trademark and a Dr. Evil design for sure), playing inside "the cube," a 3-sided customized DJ Booth covered with 75 tiles of LED screens. It's amazing, probably seizure-inducing, and goes with Deadmau5 on tour.
Visuals aside, the real gratification comes from the music this 23-year-old producer from Toronto creates. It's innovative electronic ear candy for the dance music aficionado. You can hear the latest single from Deadmau5, "Ghosts N Stuff" as well as various tracks and remixes on The Drive At Five Mixdown with DJ NR JENZ, Fridays from 5-6 p.m. on 95 KVIC.
Coldplay and Jay-Z will spend New Year's Eve together. They'll be the headliners at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas on Dec. 31. They'll each play solo sets and then play together. Tickets are by invitation-only. The performances will run on the hotel's 65-foot marquee overlooking the Las Vegas Strip. The Cosmopolitan, a $3.9 billion resort owned by Deutsche Bank, is scheduled to open on Dec. 15.
Nelly's upcoming album, "5.0," is scheduled for a Nov. 16 release. The project will feature collaborations with Kelly Rowland and Jim Jonsin on "Gone," as well as a Notorious B.I.G.-sampling on "1000 Stacks."
Aerosmith's Steven Tyler will release a solo single called "Love Lives," which will serve as the theme for the upcoming Japanese movie "Space Battleship Yamato." Tyler, who penned the track after viewing the film's final battle scene, will release it on Nov. 24.
Joe Friar is the Program Director at radio station 95 KVIC and the host of the Breakfast Buzz morning show. Weekdays from 6 to 10 a.m. on 95.1 FM in Victoria.
