Four taken to hospital after suspected alcohol-related wreck
Sept. 22, 2010 at 4:22 a.m.
Three adults and one child were taken to the hospital after a wreck thought to be caused by a man who was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
The collision occurred on southbound U.S. Highway 59 under the State Highway 185 overpass about 8 p.m Wednesday.
A Honda Acura with a male driver rear-ended a Dodge Nitro occupied by three adults and a child, said Sgt. Phillip Barron, with the Victoria Police Department.
The Nitro hit a beam on the overpass and slid into the grass on the right side of the roadway.
Its occupants were transported by ambulance to Citizen's Medical Center with what appeared to be non-serious injuries, said Barron.
The driver of the Acura was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated by Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Wayne Cipriani.
All involved were wearing their seatbelts, and airbags in both vehicles deployed.
The names of those involved were not immediately available Wednesday night.
