One of the Rockport/Fulton area's hotspots, Charlotte Plummer's Seafare Restaurant offers deliciously fresh seafood and a second-floor dining room that overlooks Aransas Bay.

These two factors are what make the restaurant popular, said owner Craig Griffin.

Griffin, a Rockport native, said he moved away in high school, began working in the geophysical industry and then settled back into the small, artsy community with his family.

In 1995, he and his wife, Leslie, took over the then 20-year-old restaurant on the bay and started making plans.

"We had looked at a lot of different places in town to buy and decided on this one," he said. "The whole concept included the hotel and store we also own across the street."

They operate Beachware & Gifts and Inn at Fulton Harbor, which opened in 2002.

Rockport has a unique attitude, promoting a laid-back lifestyle, he said, which Charlotte Plummer's also emulates.

"We wanted to keep with the no-car kind of atmosphere, a lot of things in one little area for people to walk to and enjoy," he said.

With indoor and outdoor dining, elegant furnishings, hardwood flooring and a beautiful view, visitors can't help but relax and savor the local seafood, full of flavor and flare.
