A 40-year-old Pasadena man was taken by Citizens Air Medical helicopter to a Corpus Christi hospital after a Wednesday morning wreck on state Highway 185, southeast of Victoria.

Victoria Fire Department emergency personnel responded at 6:16 a.m. to a call of a motorcycle and car crash at 8080 state Highway 185, said Battalion Chief Roger Hempel.

According to a Department of Public Safety report, a 2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, driven by Aurora Leos, 43, of Victoria, pulled out of a gas station parking lot at the intersection of state Highway 185 and Farm-to-Market Road 1432 and into the outside lane of the highway traveling east.

As the driver attempted to change to the inside lane to access the crossover, a 2007 Harley Davidson, also traveling east, driven by James Wood struck the left back quarter of the car, according to the report.

"The driver of the motorcycle suffered incapacitating type injuries," said DPS Trooper Gerald Bryant.

Wood was listed in stable condition in the intensive care unit at Christus Spohn hospital, said a hospital spokesperson.

Leos received a citation for an unsafe lane change.

Trooper Jeannie Slovacek investigated the accident.
