Texas Department of Public Safety troopers seized more than $1 million worth of marijuana that was hidden among frozen produce in a tractor trailer on Wednesday.

Trooper Adam Sweaney pulled over the trailer that was headed north on U.S. Highway 59 North near El Campo for equipment violations, according to an operator at the DPS in Pierce.

After noticing signs of criminal activity, troopers asked the driver for permission to search the refrigerated truck.

Troopers found 112 bundles of marijuana, totaling 2,676 pounds. The street value for the seized marijuana was $1.12 million, the operator said.

Jesus Lopez Curbelo, 48, of West Palm Beach, Fla., was arrested on suspicion of manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance.

He was traveling from McAllen to Florida, the operator said.

Curbelo was taken to Wharton County Jail, where he remained Thursday night in lieu of a $750,000 bond.
