Boots will be scooting at Gruenau Hall on April 30 as dancers take to the hardwood floors for a good cause - or 10.

"Boot Scootin' For Yorktown and Nordheim" will raise funds for 10 western DeWitt County nonprofit groups and other service organizations including Friends of the Yorktown Library, Yorktown Lions Club, Yorktown Historical Museum, Keep Yorktown Beautiful, Nordheim Historical Museum, Yorktown Alliance Ministries, Yorktown-Nordheim Humane Society, Yorktown Police Department, Yorktown Fire Department and Yorktown Emergency Medical Services.

"We invite everyone to come out and support their favorite organization," said Beth Riedesel, Yorktown librarian. "It should be a great time for a great cause."

Couples representing each organization will compete for the votes of the judges and the audience in a waltz and and in a solo dance of their choice.

The audience will vote on the best couple and best dance with their monetary donations of $1 per vote.

Steven Gowens of Nordheim will provide the music and members of the public can take to the dance floor after the competition is completed.

Admission is $10 and includes a hamburger dinner.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and the boots start scooting at 7.
