'Bring Your Boots' campaign earns two district Addy awards

Victoria's "Bring Your Boots" advertising campaign earned the city recognition at the district level.

The Victoria Convention & Visitors Bureau received two ADDY awards at the District 10 American Advertising Federation's competition in Oklahoma City.

The organization received a bronze award for the overall campaign in the mixed media category, while the campaign's boot displays earned a bronze award in the point of purchase category.

Gold medal winners at the local level automatically advanced to the district competition and the Bring Your Boots campaign won two gold awards and a bronze at the local competition.

The Advocate's Mary Hancock also won a district ADDY award for a Citizen Healthplex ad campaign.

District 10 encompasses all member advertising and marketing agencies in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Arkansas and the district received almost 13,000 entries at the local level. Only about 100 entries from the more than 1,000 at the district competition placed and were presented awards.

Bridgette Bise, executive director of the Victoria Convention & Visitors Bureau, said she was amazed Victoria placed at the district level.

"Many campaigns would have been happy to place in one category, but to place in two the first year of this campaign is just phenomenal," Bise said.

In total, the campaign has earned 10 awards during its first year.

Janell McPhail, who owns Jet Marketing & Advertising, said she was proud of her team for the hard work they put into the campaign.

"We have won industry travel awards for the campaign and now we are being recognized for good creative work, which is quite an honor," she said.
