Goliad County Sheriff's Department deputies are working to identify the body of a man who was found on a road in Goliad on Thursday afternoon.
About noon, the body of a partially clothed man was discovered about 30 feet from the edge of Lemke Road, said Goliad County Sheriff Kirby Brumby.
The body is that of a possibly Hispanic or white man who appears to be between 45 and 55 years old.
The man did not have identification and is thought to possibly be an illegal immigrant, said Brumby.
The cause of death was not immediately known. There were no signs of trauma.
The body was taken to a funeral home for an autopsy.
Brumby said more details about the death are expected to be released about 10:30 a.m. Friday.
