Generals move into fourth-place tie
Michael Oros and Dallas Ponder combined on a two-hitter to lead the Victoria Generals to a 12-0 win over the Alexandria Aces on Monday night at Riverside Stadium.
The win combined with Brazos Valley's 9-0 loss to East Texas moved the Generals into a tie for the fourth and final playoff spot with the Bombers with three games remaining.
Oros allowed two hits and one walk while striking out seven in eight innings. Ponder worked a perfect ninth.
The Generals had 14 hits and scored in every inning but the fifth and seventh. They put the game out of reach with a six-run sixth.
Cory Hunt had three hits for the Generals, while Chad Kruse, Freddy Villalobos, Ryan Dalton and Trent Wagner each had two.
Trace Knoblauch made his first game with the Generals this season a productive one by slugging a three-run home run. Cody Abraham had a two-run home run and Villalobos added a solo shot.
The Generals will play the Aces again Tuesday night in their final regular-season game at Riverside Stadium.
They conclude the regular season with games at Brazos Valley on Wednesday and Thursday.
