Famous Footwear to close in Victoria

A bright yellow sign outside Famous Footwear held a short message Tuesday: store closing.
After five years in business, the store will close for good Aug. 20.
The decision comes because of a lack of sales, store manager Hillary Ramos, said Tuesday.
"We didn't make a certain quota," she said. "Not enough customers. I don't really know what else to say."
She attributed some of the difficulties to the store's location at 7906 NE Zac Lentz Parkway. The store sits at the end of the Target shopping center.
Victoria's Famous Footwear employs eight people, Ramos said, and everyone is looking for new employment.
"That's our biggest concern," she said. "We all have to look for other jobs."
The shop will offer sales through the closing date, Ramos said. On Tuesday, most items were buy-one, get-one half off.
Ramos, who has been with the store since its beginning, said it's difficult to see it close. She said she will miss the customers she grew to know.
"It's been hard dealing with the hassle and keeping the associates on one pace, definitely," she said. "But you have to keep your composure. You have to keep going forward."
