Taking a ride on his bicycle, a Victoria official saw two brush piles that needed to be picked up as well as a leaky manhole cover.

O.C. Garza, communications director, reported the incidents on the spot using his cell phone.

Victoria started providing this online mobile service on Friday. By going to the city's website,, visitors can click on the link on the right side that features an iPhone.

There, residents can report a pothole, junked vehicle, weedy lots and more, Garza said.

Garza said this was a way residents can keep the city clean. The city's website committee came up with the idea, he added.

Those reporting code violations will get an emailed response from the city department handling the complaint, Garza said. The department will update residents on its progress regarding the complaint.

However, for police, fire and medical emergencies, residents still must call 911.
