A 13-mile chase in Lavaca County ended in the recovery of a stolen truck and several men fleeing into the woods Wednesday afternoon.

The chase began about 3:15 p.m. in Moulton when Police Chief Mark Zimmerman attempted to stop a 2002 Ford F-250 after the driver disregarded barricades in a construction zone and drove on a closed street.

The chase continued east on Farm-to-Market Road 532 east toward U.S. Highway 77, said Zimmerman.

Near Lavaca County Road 234-A, the truck sped through a gate and a fence and ended up in a creek bed, the police chief said.

About a dozen men jumped from the truck and fled into the woods. The truck was reported stolen in June from San Antonio, Zimmerman said.

No arrests were made.

Assisting the Moulton Police were the Lavaca County Sheriff's Office, Lavaca County Constable Precinct 1 and the Texas Department of Public Safety.
