Victoria Parks and Recreation Department will have its first Tunes @Noon concert Friday.

The hourlong concert will be at the DeLeon Plaza.

Cuero-based musician Matt Thigpen plans to entertain the crowd with Texas music and classic country.

He said he is glad to perform in the Crossroads area.

"I'm excited the city of Victoria is bringing more live music to the area," he said.

As the saying goes the early bird gets the worm, but on Friday, the early bird will get a sandwich. The first 50 attendees will receive a free sub from Subway Sandwiches.

Danielle Williams, with the Parks and Recreation Department, said the plaza provides a great ambiance for the midday crowd.

"Anyone downtown can listen to music while enjoying their lunch," said the recreation specialist.

The city will host the free concerts on the last Friday of the month.

The next concert will be Sept. 30.
