By Bill BauerI do hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. I also hope you took the time to come experience our Holiday Market Day.

We will continue to have this each year and hope you remember to put it on your calendar next year. We were told we had a good variety of gift options in the various booths represented.

The next day, our gallery was full of people who came to see Dalhart Windberg demonstrate and educate us on the art of oil painting. He did a wonderful presentation that afternoon and had a very successful workshop in our gallery for the next three days. We were really fortunate and honored to have him here in Victoria.

Our Christmas Bazaar started with our Holiday Market Day and will continue until Dec. 22 when we close the Gallery for Christmas. Members will continue to create items to be sold during this month, so we hope you will come to our gallery at 905 S. Bridge St. to see if we might have that special gift for someone for Christmas or other special occasion. We had a really good start, so please come see us, and if you have not been to the Art League before, we would be proud to show you around our facilities from 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

In January, we have some new classes and a workshop planned.

Angie Banta Brown, an accomplished artist and teacher from New Braunfels will be here for four days in January. She has won many awards for her art and will be giving a demonstration on watercolor painting at our monthly Art League meeting at 2 p.m. Jan. 8.

If you are interested in seeing her in action, you are always welcome at our programs.

The next three days, Jan. 9-11, she will be teaching the art of watercolor to anyone interested in joining her class. This is a great opportunity for anyone who would like to learn about the techniques of watercolor. Contact the Art League at 361-572-0825 if you would like more information.

I will be teaching a pottery class for beginners on Tuesdays and another for those with pottery experience on Thursdays beginning later in January. Contact me at 361-575-3216.

Jim Feig will be teaching a digital photography class for beginners on Tuesdays, starting Jan. 3. Jim is a very accomplished, creative and knowledgeable photographer who has won many awards. If interested, call him at 361-576-0578 for information.

Michelle Evans will offer a Santa's workshop Dec. 19-20 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. for children where they will make holiday gifts and decorations. Her children's classes will continue from 4-5 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

Also in January, she plans to start a pottery class on Wednesdays after school. Call her for information at 361-572-8093 if you would like to get your child into one of her classes.

Sonny Timme continues to teach an afternoon and a night class on Wednesdays in various media. January would be a great time to join his classes if you would like to learn something new or improve your artistic skills. Call him at 361-578-8722 for more information.

One more thing; we plan to have an old fashioned box supper fundraiser at the Art League in February and would encourage everyone to be thinking of joining us and supporting us in this endeavor. We thought this would be a fun way to spend an afternoon enjoying and experiencing our wonderful old building and patio. More information will be given in my next column. Enjoy life and the beauty all around you.
