Olga Guerra lost her home and all her possessions Thursday evening in a fire.

Days later, she received a phone call that would allow her family to have a brighter Christmas.

Each of her six children received a bicycle and 55-gallon bag full of toys from the Adopt A Christmas Angel program.

"I just started crying," Guerra said. "It's going to be a good Christmas."

The Port O'Connor organization donated to the Goliad family at the American Red Cross Crossroads Chapter office Tuesday morning.

Marie Hawes, a member of the organization, said she was touched by Guerra's story.

"It's sad to lose everything anytime of year, but at this time it's worse," Hawes said. She also said the organization has had toy drives for children for the last 10 years.

The gift exchange was an emotional time for those who attended.

"There wasn't a dry eye in the room," said Linda May, emergency services specialist with the Red Cross.

The Guerra children are not aware of the gifts yet, "They'll have to wait until Christmas," said their mother, Olga Guerra.
