Fewer than 50 acres of pasture in Jackson County caught fire about 4:45 p.m. Tuesday off Farm-to-Market Road 822 in the northwest corner of the county.

Areas of the Robinson Ranch, located about 17 miles north of Edna, were burning.

Jackson County Sheriff Andy Louderback said Edna, Ganado, Lolita, Vanderbilt and Victoria fire departments worked to extinguish the grass fire.

The cause of the fire is unknown, but Louderback suspects heavy winds and no rain.

"The wind was the biggest problem they were fighting, along with the dry ground," he said.

No structures have been damaged in the blaze, he said.
