Election filing deadline pushed back

Potential candidates have a little more time to get their filings organized.
A federal court order on Tuesday pushed back the primary filing deadline for all federal, state, county and local offices to 6 p.m., Monday.
The original deadline was Thursday, said George Matthews, Victoria County elections administrator.
The change was one of several amendments made because of ongoing redistricting issues, according to the court filing posted on the Texas Secretary of State website.
Candidates must reside in the district they seek to represent, as of a date to be later determined by the court, according to the federal document. Also, an incorrect precinct, district or office designation on the ballot will be accepted, as long as the designation is corrected on or before a yet-to-be-determined deadline.
