As the delivery date for the Victoria Police Department Blue Santa program draws near, there are still not enough toys to go around.
Blue Santa is a joint effort of the Victoria Police Department and Victoria residents. The gifts collected in this year's drive will be delivered on Saturday.
"We are hurting for toys more this year than in previous years," said Victoria Senior Patrol Officer Shane Wallace. While there is an abundance of toys for children ages 3-7, there are not as many for the older age group.
The project is designed to provide Christmas gifts for the less fortunate in Victoria.
The Police Department accepts toys that are age appropriate for children ages 1-12, but there is no price limit on the toys.
The Victoria Police Department accepts gifts of toys and money.
The money is used at local businesses in the community to purchase toys for the program, Wallace said.
Toys can be delivered to the police department downtown or the sub-station in the Victoria Mall.
The success of the Blue Santa program depends on the generous contributions from businesses and individuals, Wallace said.
