Students and teachers alike at Victoria's Patti Welder Middle School said goodbye to principal Carlos Garza on Friday, the last day of school before Christmas break.
Friday marked Garza's last day as principal at the middle school.
Garza, who served as principal since 2009, announced his resignation to his staff and district officials earlier this month.
"Dr. Garza has been a very dedicated administrator at Patti Welder," said Victoria school district spokeswoman Diane Boyett. "We wish him all the best with his future endeavors."
Phone messages and emails left for Garza on Friday went unreturned.
In January, Trey Edwards, the principal at Mitchell Guidance Center, will take over as interim principal at Patti Welder, said Boyett.
Meanwhile, Tedrick Valentine, the assistant principal at Mitchell Guidance Center, will become principal at the guidance center in Edwards' absence.
Boyett said the district is accepting applications for the open principal position at Patti Welder.
