Time to enter competition in 2011-2012 American Advertising Federation ADDY Awards

The American Advertising Federation-Victoria has issued a call for entries for the 2011-12 American Advertising Federation ADDY Awards competition. All entries must be received by Jan. 20.
The AAF is a national organization, headquartered in Washington, D.C., with a purpose to protect and promote the well-being of advertising, according to the website. There are 200-plus chapters across the country.
"Each chapter has its own awards to recognize local talent," said Katy Long, first vice president of the board of directors for AAF-Victoria.
Long also said the local winners have the opportunity to participate on a national level. In the Crossroads there were 80 entries last year from companies of every size, plus individuals who do their own creative work.
Entries may be submitted from any business, creative agency or media outlet. Entrants do not need to be members of the American Advertising Federation. Some of the categories for the award show include sales promotion, collateral material, direct marketing and non-traditional advertising.
"The ADDY Awards are the advertising community's equivalent of the Oscars or the Grammys," said AAF-Victoria ADDY Awards Chair Vern Crockett, in a news release.

Entries may be submitted at the Victoria College Marketing and Communications Office, located on campus at Victoria College, 2200 E. Red River in Victoria.
AAF-Victoria's annual ADDY Awards Show is scheduled at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at the Spring Creek Place Event Center.
