Boy Scouts from Troop 364 and Troop 368 worked to earn their Aviation Merit Badge with the assistance of the Victoria Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol at the Victoria Regional Airport on Thursday, Dec. 22, from 8 a.m. until noon.
The scouts visited the aircraft control tower, learning how to perform a pre-flight inspection on a single-engine, propeller-driven aircraft, and learning how to read air navigational charts. They also conducted interviews with members of the aviation community, including pilots, air traffic controllers, an Airframe and Power Plant mechanic and air search-and-rescue volunteers.
