Jackie Gloor called her husband her rock.
"He built our house from the ground up, but more than that, he left a strong moral foundation for his sons and grandchildren to grow from," she said in an e-mail.
Gary Lee Gloor, 61, died in a one-vehicle wreck on state Highway 111 in Lavaca County Wednesday morning.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by Lavaca County Justice of the Peace Alene Lyons at 1:30 a.m., according to a Texas Department of Public Safety report.
Gloor, who works in U.S. Rep. Ron Paul's office, remembered her husband as "a simple man who lived and loved a simple life."
"Gary was a loving son, a faithful and devoted husband and a proud father and doting Grandy who has left a heartbroken family to deal with our loss," she said.
He was also an accomplished horseman, carpenter and a "friend to all and enemy of none who prayed."
To sum it up, "He was simply a good man," Gloor said.
The wreck occurred about 15 miles east of Yoakum near Lavaca County Road 443.
Gloor was traveling east in a 2001 Ford F-150 when he crossed over into the westbound lane, over-corrected and hit a tree about 12:30 a.m., according to the report. He was wearing a seat belt.
Trooper Matthew Southall investigated the crash.
