Mt. Nebo Baptist Church celebrates pastoral anniversary

The Rev. Fred and Bessie Hobbs

Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church, 704 E. Park St., will celebrate the Seventh Pastoral Anniversary of the Rev. Fred and Bessie Hobbs on Sunday, with two services.

The guest speaker for the 10:45 a.m. service will be the Rev. Curtis Johnston, of Greater Grace Baptist Church, in Beaumont. Johnston graduated from the Interdenominational Theological Center of Morehouse College in Atlanta, Ga. He was called to the ministry in 1983 and ordained in 1984.

The guest speaker for the 3 p.m. service is the Rev. L.J. Gillespie Sr. D.D., of Greater Love Missionary Baptist Church, in San Antonio. Gillespie received his bachelor's and Doctor of Divinity from the Guadalupe Baptist Theological Seminary, Doctor of Divinity from American International Theological and seminary, as well as an honorary degree of Doctor of Letters of Urban Ministries from Aspen Christian College and Theological Seminary.

The theme of the anniversary is "Confidently Responding to God's Investment," Philippians 1:6.
