A 22-year-old Boling man died in a wreck on Farm-to-Market Road 1301 about 3 a.m. Saturday.

Ray Matthew Horta was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier eastbound on the road near Boling, said Anthony Silva with the Texas Department of Public Safety.

His vehicle crossed into the westbound lane and hit two separate culverts, becoming airborne two times, according to the report. The car also hit a tree before coming to a rest on its passenger side in a ditch facing west.

Horta was pronounced dead at the scene by Wharton County Justice of the Peace Dennis Korenek. Horta was taken to Wharton Funeral Home, where his services are pending.

It's unknown if Horta was wearing a seatbelt or if any controlled substances were involved in the wreck.

Trooper Mark Contreras investigated the crash.
