A woman died Tuesday night after a wreck about 10:30 a.m. on Farm-to-Market Road 1822 near Edna.

Willie Marie Baker, 64, was northbound about half a mile from County Road 303. She veered off the shoulder, overcorrected and flipped her Toyota 4Runner several times off the left side of the road, said Department of Public Safety Trooper John Kopacz.

Baker was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle, Kopacz said.

She was flown to Citizens Medical Center and later taken by ambulance to San Antonio Military Medical Center-North, said a spokesperson with the Victoria hospital.

There, she died around 5 p.m., said her son, Jack Miller.

Originally from Victoria and better known as Marie Miller, she had just moved to Edna from San Antonio, her son said.

"These past few months had been the happiest time of her life," he said. "And today, it was just a freak accident."

Miller said he expects to make funeral arrangements in Victoria.
