Morgan S. Salonek was recently commissioned as a 2nd Lt. in the United States Marine Corps at Quantico, Va. where he is attending the Basic School.
He is a 2004 Victoria Memorial High School graduate and a 2009 graduate of Texas A&M University, where he served four years in the Corps of Cadets.
Salonek is the son of Gene and Carol Salonek, of Tomball, and the grandson of Evolyn Smith and the late Terry E. Smith.
Navy Seaman Kegan E. Kay recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.
Kay is the daughter of Pamela J. Malatek and stepdaughter of Raymond A. Malatek, of Gonzales.
She is a 2005 graduate of Gonzales High School.
Navy Seaman Recruit Christopher T. Barbour recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.
Barbour is the son of Christine T. Davis, of Victoria. He is a 2010 graduate of Memorial High School of Victoria.
Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Robert J. Hinojosa and the crew of roughly 370 sailors whose homeport is Naval Station San Diego, Calif., recently completed a 10-month shipyard availability aboard the guided missile cruiser USS Mobile Bay, forward deployed to Yokosuka, Japan.
USS Mobile Bay is the second guided missile cruiser to undergo the most comprehensive upgrade and modernization program in Navy history.
Hinojosa is the son of Lela and Ramon N. Hinojosa, of Beeville. He is a 2003 graduate of Orange Grove High School in Orange Grove, and joined the Navy in September 2003.
