Summer reading programs encourage kids to continue reading

The Victoria Public Library offers reading programs designed to encourage students to continue reading throughout the summer.
The kids' Summer Ready Program is available for toddlers through fifth-graders and offers prizes for every three hours of reading logged by participants.
Those who complete four hours of reading or six books, depending on age, will be invited to a party near the end of the summer.
The reading program for teens, in sixth- through 12th-grade, offers library bucks for every hour read. Students who read at least 10 hours will be invited to the Texas Teens Read party on Aug. 1.
