July 10, 2011 at 2:10 a.m.
A two-vehicle wreck Sunday killed one woman and sent one man to DeTar Hospital North with critical injuries.
Judy and David Sullivan, of Yorktown, were traveling north on U.S. 87 when their 2006 Honda Accord was struck by a 2008 Ford F-150, driven by Logan Curtis, 18, of Victoria. He was also driving north on the same highway. The two vehicles collided near the intersection of U.S. 87 and Farm-to-Market Road 447, in front of a Shell Gas Station. Curtis' truck smashed the rear of Accord, pushing the trunk into the back seat of the car.
Victoria County Sheriff's Office, Nursery Fire Department, Victoria Fire Department and Department of Public Safety responded to the 3:15 p.m. wreck.
DPS Trooper Dave Macaulay said an investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the wreck.
Judy Sullivan, 65, who was driving the Honda, was pronounced dead at the scene by Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Stuart Posey.
Curtis, who declined medical attention at the scene, sat nearby the wreck scene and Judy Sullivan's body, which was covered with a sheet on a stretcher, and cried.
Curtis' friends and family also sat with him at the scene crying, hugging and offering support.
David Sullivan, 67, was transported by ambulance to DeTar Hospital North. He was in critical, but stable condition, as of 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
Macaulay said no citations were issued.
