YORKTOWN - A small community is mourning the loss of a woman who died in a wreck Sunday afternoon.

Judy Sullivan, 65, from Yorktown, was killed when the 2006 Honda Accord she was driving was rear-ended by a 2008 Ford F-150 near the intersection of U.S. Highway 87 and Farm-to-Market Road 447.

Her husband, David Sullivan, 67, is in stable condition at San Antonio's Brooke Army Medical Center, a hospital spokesperson said.

The wreck is still under investigation and no charges have been made against Logan Curtis, 18, the driver of the F-150, said Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Gerald Bryant. Curtis is from Victoria.

"It appears to have been temporary driver inattention," Bryant said.

The late Sullivan retired as school teacher from Yorktown school district last year, said Deborah Kneese, superintendent, in an email. Kneese is out of the state and learned of Sullivan's passing on Monday.

"She touched the lives of many of our students and taught many students the joy of reading," Kneese wrote. "Our school family deeply mourns her loss, and our prayers are with her family during this difficult time."

The Advocate could not reach any of the Sullivan family members Monday night.
