The South Texas Zoological Society will pair cocktails and animals during its third annual Texas Tunes Fundraiser.

The event, which is for people age 21 and up, will be Friday at the Texas Zoo.

"Come enjoy the zoo at night. It's a different atmosphere," said Zoo Board member Allyson Griffin. "The animals will be out for our patrons to enjoy."

Griffin said the board hopes to raise at least $15,000 to go toward building a larger den for lion cubs Aesa and Gaia, who will be 2 years old soon.

Attendees can participate in a silent auction that includes such items as jewelry, golfing packages, Texas Zoo kids party packages, beer memorabilia and a customized ice chest.

Fundraiser attendees can expect to munch on barbecue while being entertained by the music of Clay Crockett & the Shotgun Raiders Band.

The O'Connor and Hewitt Foundation underwrites the event.

"There will be a great dinner and drinks, a great band and you can raise money for a good cause," said Griffin.
