Thumbs-up, thumbs-down; it's your choice

Thumbs-up to the organizations in our area that are helping the poor and hungry in our area. It's a terrible shame there is such a need for these services in this area and across the country.

Thumbs-down to the POOR and SLOW service at the local restaurants.

Not only is the service bad, but they are not really friendly either. I did not get lunch today as a result. If the restaurant would have been extremely busy, it might have been understandable, but when it was only about one-third full, it is difficult to understand. Needless to say, I will not be there again. Before we need a convention center, we need to have some type of training for food providers.

The type of service I had today makes it embarrassing to consider taking friends out to eat. Yes, we need to give a "Thumbs-up" to a few restaurants in Victoria, but unfortunately they are in the minority.

Thumbs-down to Republicans being obstinate and unpatriotic in their refusal to budge in negotiations of the debt ceiling. They raised it seven times under Bush, after eliminating the surplus created by Clinton and spending billions on war, that weren't funded.

Thumbs-up to any rain we have received, no matter if it is a fraction.

Thumbs-up to Gabriel Gonzales, who sadly lost his mother, but who decided to join the U.S. Marines despite his loss.

Thumbs-up to the fundraiser for a Tejano monument on the Capitol grounds in Austin. Club Westerner had a fundraiser to help pay for the monument.

Thumbs-up to Larry Phillips, who has been making clocks in Refugio for several years. He does not do it for profit, but for craft and fun.

Thumbs-down to drivers who hover in other drivers' blind spots, creating a very dangerous situation for all drivers involved.

Thumbs-down to the continued lack of rain and drought.
