Two Port Lavaca bars raided for gambling

Port Lavaca Police conducted raids on two bars on suspicion of gambling.
The gambling machines in the bars were paying out in cash, Port Lavaca Police Chief John Stewart said.
Officers conducted a raid on The Cove, 2002 Broadway St., about 8 a.m. Thursday. They seized five machines, cash and arrested the bar manager Christine Henze, 49, of Port Lavaca.
A raid was conducted at Venecia's Bar, 1708 W. Main St., at 4 p.m. Thursday. Officers seized five machines and arrested the bartender Martha Cantu, 52.
Both were charged with keeping a gambling place, a class A misdemeanor.
