REFUGIO - Refugio County Emergency Management Coordinator Stan Upton has been keeping a watchful eye on Tropical Storm Don as it churns its way to the South Texas coast.
No county or city closures were expected as of Friday and all the county can really do is monitor the storm, Upton said.
"Put a raincoat on," he said. "Everything is reactionary."
The county was expecting anywhere from five to seven inches of rain and winds gusting at about 60 mph, he said. However, updated forecasts indicate the county might receive much less rainfall.
Tropical storms are not a big worry and because Don is traveling fast, Upton said he expects only a day of heavy rains.
"Everyone is paying attention," Upton said. We're fixing to get some much-needed rain."
