For the 10th consecutive year, Faith Family Church will host its communitywide school supplies drive, Pack the Bus.

The event, scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Aug. 12-13 at H-E-B and H-E-B Plus grocery store locations, aims to collect school supplies for underprivileged children in the Crossroads.

This year, Faith Family Church partnered with VISD and KIDZ Connection to collect and distribute the supplies to families in need in seven counties.

Pack the Bus coordinator Eli Sauseda said each H-E-B will feature two school buses in the parking lot where people are to drop off school supplies.

"We will literally be packing the bus with school supplies," Sauseda said. "It's a win-win for everybody. The grocery stores get business, and the kids get school supplies."

Pack the Bus hopes to collect enough supplies for every poverty-level child to have have the tools they need when the 2011-2012 school year begins this fall.

Census Data reports there are about 3,000 children living at the poverty level in Victoria County alone.

In addition to school supplies, Faith Family Church is accepting monetary donations.
