Winner faces the winner of the 11 a.m. game between Albany (31-5) and Grapeland (26-9) at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.

ABOUT SHINER: The Lady Comanches are making their ninth appearance at the state tournament, the last coming in 2008. All nine of those appearances have been in the last 15 years, the first coming in 1996. Shiner is led by three key seniors: pitcher Ashley Shimek, catcher Holly Haas and outfielder Amber Ramirez, who recently signed to run track and Texas A&M-Kingsville. Along with them is a talented group of freshmen, including shortstop Kristin Schacherl, who is batting .480 this year; Julianna Rankin, who has contributed from the circle; and Meagan Chumchal, who had the game-winning, three-run homer in Game 2 against Mart to get Shiner to the state tournament. Shimek has paced the Lady Comanches from the circle with a record of 22-0 this season. The Lady Comanches have won 19 straight games going back to District 28-1A play. They have not lost since Ganado beat them to open district play.

RECORD: 30-4 overall

IN THE PLAYOFFS: vs. Bosqueville, 8-0, 9-3; vs. North Zulch, 4-3, 14-4; vs. Center Point, 8-4, 7-4; vs. Mart, 12-7, 9-8.

ABOUT LINDSAY: Lindsay won 18 straight games before losing to Petrolia to close out the regular season. They have lost two games in the playoffs, one to Blue Ridge in the regional semis and one to Itasca in the regional final. Both were series that the Lady Knights won. They have been led by their pitcher, junior Taylor Adkins, who is 25-7 this year. But their dangerous bat is catcher/shortstop Alyx Etherington, who is batting .708 this year.

RECORD: 31-11 overall.

IN THE PLAYOFFS: vs. Goldthwaite, 11-1, 19-3; vs. Moody 11-3, 5-1; vs. Blue Ridge 11-1, 2-10, 10-2; vs. Itasca 4-5, 16-3, 8-0.
