The third annual Summer River Flotilla in Goliad is scheduled for Saturday.
This family-friendly paddling event, which historically draws paddling and adventure club members from throughout the South and Central Texas region, follows the 6.6-mile Goliad Paddling Trail route from the Highway 59 Bridge west of downtown Goliad to Goliad State Park.
All registered paddlers will receive free shuttle service at Goliad State Park from 9 to 11 a.m. and will be eligible for lunch specials at participating restaurants in downtown Goliad. Paddlers also will receive assistance getting their craft in and out of the river.
The Goliad State Park entrance fee will be waived for registered flotilla attendees. People driving into the park must check in at park headquarters. All camping rules and fees apply.
Paddlers must supply their own craft and safety equipment. The flotilla and shuttle service are subject to cancellation through 8 a.m. on event day depending on weather or flow conditions.
The flotilla is hosted by the San Antonio River Authority and is staffed by volunteers coordinated through the non-profit Canoe Trail Goliad Inc., and by staff members from the San Antonio River Authority and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
