Four arrested in meth bust in Calhoun County

Deputies discovered a meth lab in progress at 366 Alamo Beach Ave. in Port Lavaca on Thursday afternoon.
Calhoun County Sheriff's Office deputies went to the home after receiving a report of a a foul smell at the home, said Calhoun County Sheriff B. B. Browning.
Browning said initial investigation revealed the lab had been operating for between two and three weeks.
"We could tell they'd already made several batches there," Browning said.
The Drug Enforcement Agency was called in from Corpus Christi to clean up the meth lab, charging the county a $5,000 fee.
Joseph Reif Alford, 18, Misty Renee Alford, 38, Jose Albert Salas Jr., 22, and Joseph Earl Alford, 38, all of Port Lavaca, were arrested on charges of manufacturing and delivering a controlled substance. Browning said more charges could be filed as the investigation progresses.
