Rec Room column: Market Days to move back downtown

Everyone has been waiting patiently for the downtown project to be completed. Well, it is definitely worth the wait.

It is gorgeous downtown, and the Public Works Department should be commended for orchestrating the difficult project.

Market Days will move back to DeLeon Plaza on June 17.

Come on down and experience the wonderful downtown atmosphere and the many vendors. If you are interested in being a vendor call the number below for information.

We still need input from the public on facilities and events in the parks system. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey at (look for the yellow box).

There is some misinformation being circulated regarding the Gary T. Moses Pool in regards to safety of staff and participants. The municipal pool is the most challenging pool in town. We average more swimmers in one day than some other pools have in a week.

Yes, there are individuals who test us and those situations are handled quickly. Currently, we have 22 applicants in various stages of the hiring process. Not all applicants will be eligible because of screening procedures.

The Human Resources Department and Parks Department are diligently working to hire lifeguards so we can open soon.

The deadline for registering for the Summer Softball and Kickball league has been extended to Friday, because of the holiday weekend.
