A Victoria woman was transported to Citizens Medical Center after a five-car wreck in the Citizens Professional Building parking lot.
Mary Alvarez, 47, of Victoria, who was driving a green Pontiac G6, struck a parked white Dodge pickup, pushing it into three other cars in the parking lot at 2710 Hospital Drive, said senior patrol officer Herschel Buck.
"It was like a bunch of dominos," Buck said.
Hospital security notified the owners of the damaged vehicles about the collision at 2:05 p.m. The cars were all owned by hospital employees but none of them were occupied.
The owner of the pickup, Donell Barnett, 25, of Victoria, arrived at the scene with other hospital employees while Alvarez was still in her car.
Barnett described Alvarez as unresponsive, turning her key in the ignition, looking over her shoulder to back up and then attempting to light a cigarette.
"It appears she had some sort of medical condition causing her to lose control of the vehicle," Buck said.
Alvarez was treated and released later in the afternoon, a hospital spokesman said
Buck said the Department of Public Safety will continue to investigate the crash.
