Victoria College, in partnership with Dale's Fun Center, Velocity Powersports, Victoria Harley-Davidson, and Victoria Ironworks, continues Victoria's community motorcycle awareness campaign in June with the second "Look Twice for Motorcycles" motorcycle awareness ride on Saturday.

Participants will begin staging motorcycles at 5 p.m. in the Sears parking lot at Victoria Mall. A rider meeting will follow at 6:45 p.m. and the ride will begin at 7 p.m.

Riders will embark from the mall and travel down John Stockbauer Drive to Business 59 then head west toward U.S. Highway 87. Continuing north on U.S. 87, to Loop 463 and there turn east to return to the mall.

The Look Twice for Motorcycles campaign, sponsored by the Center for Transportation Safety at the Texas Transportation Institute, reminds drivers to be more aware of motorcycles on the roadways as they travel, and to share the road safely. Texas has more than 431,000 registered motorcycles and more than its share of motorcycle crashes.

"This campaign is designed to raise awareness in our community for all motorists to pay particular attention for motorcycles," said Sherri Pall, continuing education business operations manager for VC.

VC is a training provider for the Motorcycle Basic Rider Course sponsored by the DPS Safety/Motorcycle Safety Unit. Participants may register to win one of four free motorcycle basic rider course or one of four experienced rider course offered at VC, donated by Dale's Fun Center, Velocity Powersports, Victoria Harley-Davidson and Victoria Ironworks.

"We are proud to partner once again with the area motorcycle dealers to ensure the safety of motorcyclists in our region," said Pall.
