Two women were transported to DeTar Hospital and Citizens Medical Center on Sunday morning about 3 a.m. after the car they were riding in was struck by another vehicle.

Gabrielle Ramirez, 17, and Ashley Chavez, 17, were riding in a 1996 Lexus driven by 17-year-old Ryan Longoria, when 26-year-old Paul Trevino hit their car on the passenger side with his 2003 PT Cruiser.

The cars were coming to a stop sign at the intersection of Liberty and East Water streets when the accident occurred, Victoria Police Officer Chris Case said.

Trevino and Longoria were uninjured in the accident. Ramirez was transported to Citizens Medical Center where she remains in stable condition. Chavez was transported to DeTar Hospital. She is also in stable condition as of 7 p.m. Sunday.

Case said the events of the accident are still under investigation.
