The Victoria City Council will discuss supporting Caterpillar's application for a tax abatement Tuesday.

The resolution, if passed, would not grant the tax abatement since the city can't grant one until it provides each taxing entity seven days notice.

However, the resolution would allow the city council to accept Caterpillar's tax abatement application, and authorize city staff to notify others of the city's intent to enter into a tax abatement agreement with Caterpillar.

The manufacturer of construction vehicles will have its application for a tax abatement looked at by the city council on July 5.
