A mother and daughter were arrested at 10:15 p.m. Friday on suspicion of transporting 56.2 pounds of marijuana through Victoria.

Department of Public Safety Trooper Jay Schultz pulled over Palmira Marroquin Luera, 52, of Falcon Heights, and 21-year-old Jessica Lee Gonzalez, of Salineno on U.S. 59 and Zac Lentz Parkway on suspicion of following too close.

Luera was driving a silver 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 truck. Gonzalez, her daughter, was a passenger.

Five bundles of marijuana were found in the spare tire mounted under the vehicle, according to the arrest report.

Luera and Gonzalez were charged with second-degree felony possession of marijuana, more than 50 pounds, less than 2,000 pounds.
