Street construction projects start, delayed

Victoria will reduce Sam Houston Drive on Friday to two-way, two-lanes between Crestwood Drive and Airline Road to install water, sanitary sewer, storm sewers and for re-paving.
Traffic will be shifted to the northbound lanes during this construction phase. This phase should be completed in about eight months.
All businesses in the construction zone will remain open and accessible. Through-traffic can avoid delays in the work zone by seeking alternate routes.
Also, Leary Lane between Sam Houston Drive and Fannin Drive will be closed through the end of July to complete paving operations and utility adjustments.
The paving project was expected to be complete during the first week of July; however, weather and utility conflicts have delayed the completion of this section.
Both projects are part of the $17.99 million Sam Houston Drive Reconstruction Project. The contractor is SER Construction Partners Inc. of Pasadena.
