It was the 100th anniversary of International Women's Day this week, and this weekend, the Calhoun Air Center is setting out to honor women with free helicopter rides.

This weekend, girls who are interested in aviation will have the chance to take a ride with airport manager Dianna Stanger.

The girls will get to go on a free discovery flight if they are part of a nonprofit organization in Calhoun or Victoria County.

The flights will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Each girl will get her picture taken in the helicopter.

The flights need to be scheduled, so those interested should call to make an appointment. Those interested should contact Jasmine Gordon at 361-218-5459 to schedule a flight or for more information.

The Calhoun Air Center is located at 4876 Farm-to-Market Road 3084, Port Lavaca.
