DeWitt County Shutterburgs accepting submissions for annual photo contest

The DeWitt County Shutterbugs camera club is accepting entries for its 14th annual photography contest and exhibition.

Submissions will be accepted through noon Saturday, March 26 at the Cuero Municipal Library, according to a news release from the club.

More than $1,000 in prizes will be awarded. The special Texas Wildflower category features a $75 cash award. Best of Show prize is $150.

Contest categories include architecture, animals/fauna, flowers/plants, landscapes/scenic, miscellaneous, portraits/people and special effects (digital or film).

The entry fee for adults is $5 with no limit of photos per category.

The Youth Division is open to students in 8th grade or lower and the entry fee is $3.

Photos may be any size up to 8 inches by 12 inches and must be matted to 11 inches by 14 inches.

A panel of three qualified judges will select the winning photographs based on technical merit and artistic impression, according to the news release.

Only the highest scoring photos in each category will be exhibited. From the hundreds of photographs submitted to the contest, about 250 are displayed.

Entries should be taken to the library or mailed to Cuero Municipal Library, 207 E. Main St., Cuero, 77954.

The exhibition will run April 4-28 during library hours.
